Acting Deputy Chief of Mission for the U.S. Mission to Saudi Arabia Shannon Dolan

Dr. Shannon Dolan is the Acting Deputy Chief of Mission for the U.S. Mission to Saudi Arabia and a career member of the Senior Foreign Service.  Most recently, she led the management operations of the mission.  For the past three years, she was the U.S. Director of the bilateral Program of Technical Cooperation in Saudi Arabia, leading the interagency team to develop and implement training and advising programs bolstering security, critical infrastructure protection, and counterterrorism efforts in support of U.S national security goals.

She previously served as the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Director and Acting Deputy Chief of Mission in Yerevan.  She also worked in Tbilisi, Pristina, Skopje, Tirana, and in three different assignments in Manila.  Before joining the State Department, she was a Regional Executive Manager overseeing title insurance attorneys across four states and was a social psychology research assistant.  She and her husband have two teenage children and previously owned a restaurant.  She earned a PhD in Organizational Psychology, MA in Social Psychology, and MS in Political Science and served as an academic reviewer for a leading peer-reviewed public administration journal.  She is the recipient of several Superior and Meritorious Honor Awards from the Department of State.  She is fluent in Greek and Albanian and also speaks Russian.
